Just north of Chiang Rai lies the boarding home in MaeChan. The home was taken over by BaanChivitMai in 2003 when it faced the threat of closure.
35 children from ages 8-16 live here, most of whom come from remote mountain villages. Presently the home is housed in two old houses of wood that we rent. There is not much space, but no one ever complains. Everyone is concerned to continue to go to school and receive an education. We now have a plot of land where we have started to build a larger lodgings.
At the boarding home, the children receive food, housing and, not least, love and care. The supervising couple mean very much to the children and have created a warm and secure atmosphere at the home.
