The boarding home in PhayaGong

After a bumpy ride of several hours, in a four-wheel driven jeep on uneven, twisty gravel roads through the jungle, you reach the boarding home in PhayaGong. Approximately 40 children live here, from ages 6-12, all of whom come from distant villages in the mountains.
The home is remotely situated so that the children will not be too far away from their families. Some of the children themselves have walked several hours through the jungle to get to the place, where they have heard that you may live and go to school, even though you do not have any money.
The public school lies some kilometres away from the boarding home. In the simple bamboo sheds of the school live yet some 40 children. BaanChivitMai have supported them with mattresses, pillows, blankets and mosquito nets. It can get very cold in the winter and previously the children lay directly on the bare stone floor. The school works well, though, and the teachers are good.

The children relax with football after a day in school.

The four-wheel driven jeep of the
home also serves as school bus.

Three of the houses lodge the children and the remaining house serves as dining room.
