An independent, local relief foundation

BaanChivitMai is an independent Thai relief foundation. It is registered in the city of ChiengRai, in Northern Thailand, and a number of prominent city members are represented in its comittee.
The work of BaanChivitMai rests on Christian beliefs and values, an outlook that pervades the activities of the foundation. The heart of the work is to restore human dignity for children and other exposed groups of society.

BaanChivitMai is a much respected organisation in Chiang Rai.

Eva Olofsson and the first director Tawai Sawapitak go through the requirements at the boarding homes.

Strong bonds with Sweden
There are strong bonds between BaanChivitMai and Sweden. Many Swedish organisations and private persons are regular donors, or contribute otherwise to the work of the foundation.
Eva Olofsson, a co-founder of the foundation, is presently living in Sweden where she informs about, and raise funds for, the various projects.
A number of teenagers at BaanChivitMai have received further education in Sweden, and the King and Queen of Sweden paid visit to BaanChivitMai, whilst on an official state visit to Thailand in 2003.
