The children who used to live at the Phayagong home up in the mountains, got to move down to the civilization a few years ago and stayed in small, temporary houses in the town of MaeSuay.
We had a vision of building a new boarding home for these children, so we got involved in finding a piece of land and funding to make that happen. In the spring of 2011, our vision became a reality, and the children were able to move into new, pretty houses built on a large lot on the outskirts of MaeSuay.
Today there are around 30 children and youth living at the MaeSuay home, who have transferred to one of the state schools in the village. Most of the children's families live far up in the mountains. If they didn't stay at BaanChivitMai's boarding home, they wouldn't be able to go to school because of the distance.
The boarding home is funded by financial resources raised by students in Norway and Australia. Each year there are students coming to visit the MawSuay home, which is very appreciated by the children.
